Until quite recently, the folk saying would advise you not to “put all your eggs in one basket”. Luckily, Francis Burkett took this in stride and invented a structurally safe packing for those little oval shaped fellas. Thus, he protected his invention via patent in 1969, creating “adequate structural and shock protection properties” and a “secure latch mechanism between its tray and cover” or, in simpler terms, the common egg carton.
